A small ski area serving local market.
Marketing Director
Reinvented / conceived / produced all marketing materials
including brochure, tradeshow booth, outdoor advertising,
POP pieces, and painted illustration of mountain.
Key Contributions:
Produced innovative high-color, eye-catching brochure promoting
price advantage, new snowmaking capabilities, and proximity advantage.
Created simple driving map and developed outdoor campaign including
billboards and signage.
Delivered quadrupled revenues in one season from
$300K to $1,200K by identifying / broadcasting key selling promises
using print, outdoor and radio vehicles.

Sunday River Ski Resort, Bethel, ME 1990 - 1993
Full service ski resort with many profit centers including ski park,
rental shops, skier development services, handicapped skiing division,
20 cafeterias, restaurants and pubs, convenience and grocery stores,
event-based food carts and services, hotel,
condo villages, and ski dorm.
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Conceived 1993-94 seasonal advertising concept, "The Magic of Skiing",
to compete with Disney World, Caribbean cruises and similar vacation
venues.
Art Directed brochure, press kit, and 8-page print ad for 1992-93 season;
print ad achieved new record for direct responses to an ad placed in
SKI Magazine; brochure / press kit won gold and silver Mercury Awards
in New York, beating such competitors as CNN.
Increased 1991-1992 advance bookings 20% over previous year through
production of new brochure / vacation planner.
Researched competitive signage and created new sign system
to enhance resort image.
Re-designed the resort newspaper, created logos and major
promotional images for big calendar events, restaurants, shops,
premium programs, skier development, mountain bike park
and all resort profit centers.
Guided photographers and film makers in creation of compelling
images to evoke the "romance" of the resort and its region.
Consulted architects and builders in choice of colors, materials,
lighting, and landscaping in the company's growth activities
including Snow Cap Inn, The Summit Hotel, The Peak Lodge, and an
improvement to the resort's open areas with walking paths, new traffic
flow, and face lift to all base lodges.
Personally produced illustrations, including paintings, of resort's
mountains for use in brochures, ads, TV, billboards, posters and trail
maps; one painting was selected as prime image to introduce
resort to New York audience.
Facilitated creation of a full in-house ad agency by dramatically
outperforming results of the outside ad agency.
Played key role, through advertising results, in the company's rise
to prominence during the period leading up to the creation of the
American Skiing Company.

Senior Designer
A classic graphic design studio producing package design,
outdoor advertising design, brochures, print ads, POP pieces,
trade show graphics, logos, illustrations and package designs
for a variety of products from acoustic systems, to road
building materials, to auto body tools to children's toys.
Clients included: W.R.Grace, Acoustic Research, Faxon,
Marson, Corporate Space and Howard Johnson (80% of Howard
Johnson's outdoor advertising and assorted in-store pieces).
ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT
Free-Lance Artist: public building murals, including Wellesley College,
several Burger King restaurants, and coral reef exhibit inside New
England Aquarium. Produced one-man show of paintings,
"Images of Easton" with some paintings becoming limited edition prints.
Currently engaged in creating watercolor painting collection
featuring local scenes.
Portrait Painter: one-season business in Nantucket storefront.
Airbrush Expert: produced numerous images on vans, motorcycles,
trucks, cars, greeting cards and gift lines. Illustrated Lord of
the Rings with 60+ full figures on van; won several 'Best of Show'
awards at various auto shows.
